It was one of those BIG moments...
About 6 years ago while I was still in school training to become a naturopathic doctor, I decided that my bloating, terrible dysmenorrhea (aka. bad period cramps), and acne breakouts finally needed to be dealt with. I started working with my naturopathic doctor to figure out these issues. We decided to look into possible Food Sensitivities, so I had an IgG Food Sensitivity blood test done (p.s. I use these tests all the time with patients).
Well, the truth came out. Out of nearly 100 tested foods, it turned out my love of potato wedges, crusty bread, milky tea, and scallops wasn't helping me out much.
It seemed my immune system, specifically immunoglobulin G (IgG), was freaking out every time I consumed these foods. So, what was I to do? It was time for a Cleanse!
My naturopathic doctor developed a no-fail, 4-week plan (much like the plan Tosca Reno and I have developed for you in our 4-Week Spring Cleanse) for me to follow to eliminate these problematic foods. We threw in a few others (like sugar, alcohol and caffeine), to ensure I was getting a thorough clean out.
But could I do it? I was determined to feel better, so I made it a priority. I decided to do the plan while my boyfriend (now husband) was away for a month in Egypt and Jordan during the month of April. It was perfect timing for a spring reset!

Overall, I felt like a million bucks! My boyfriend came back to a new woman! With an elevated libido to boot ;)
After the elimination we did a formal reintroduction period to see which foods were truly bothering me - turns out potatoes and dairy are things I need to have in small amounts in order for me not to wind up like a bloated, broken out, miserable lady.
Knowledge is truly power! I finally knew which foods to avoid for optimal health.
